What auto locksmith work actually involves
The dealer route for a lost car key usually means a tow, a wait, and a bill. We work the other way round: we come to the car, cut the key, and program it to your vehicle where it sits — in a driveway, a commuter lot, or on the street.
Modern keys are really two things at once. There's the mechanical part that turns the cylinder, and a transponder or fob that the car has to recognize electronically. Both have to be right, which is why a key cut from a photo of your old one won't start the engine. It also means a fob that stopped working is often a programming or battery problem rather than a lost key at all — worth checking before paying for a replacement.
